April 30 is 2012 Extension Homemakers Spring Dessert

The 2012 Putnam County Extesnion Homemakers Spring Dessert will take place on Monday, April 30. Betty Foxx (left), President of Merry J's Extension Homemakers Club and Shelly Tahtinen, President of Family, Friends and Fun Club, are looking over two of the specialty cupcakes, which are being made by members of the Family, Friends and Fun Extension Homemakers Club for Monday's event.

The 2012 Putnam County Extension Homemakers Spring Dessert will take place on Monday, April 30 in the Community Building at the Fairgrounds. All new members who have joined the local organization within the past 12 months will be recognized during this time. Viewing of Cultural Arts exhibits and refreshments start at 6:30 p.m. with the program scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

This year's Spring Dessert is being hosted by members of the Merry J's and Family, Friends and Fun Extension Homemakers Clubs. The theme for this year's event is "Treasure the Past, Honor the Present and Welcome the Future". Jan Harlow, the state president for Indiana Extension Homemakers will be the guest speaker.

Local Extension Homemaker members are encouraged to bring Cultural Arts exhibits and any 9 x 9 inch quilt squares that they wish to have go to Home and Family Conference to the fairgrounds on Monday between 5-6 p.m., so they can be entered and put on display. Members attending the Spring Dessert will select the Cultural Arts item to represent Putnam County at Home and Family Conference at Purdue by popular vote.

Members of Family, Friends and Fun club under the leadership of member Sue Woodall decorated cupcakes to look like butterflies for this year's Spring Dessert. They made up extra cupcakes, which will also be for sale during the event, with the proceeds from the sale going to support Putnam County's Imagination Library.
