Sharon Crawley Evans, age 69, of Greencastle died May 6, 2012.

She was the daughter of Glen Crawley and Irene Welch Crawley.

On June 9, 1972 she married Robert W. Evans. He survives.

Sharon is also survived by a son, Scott Griffith Evans, and daughter-in-law, Amy Atcheson Evans and their daughter, Anna Noelle Evans. Also surviving are two stepsons, Robert Stanton Evans (wife Allison Wharry) and Richard Bradley Evans. Stan and Allison have two children, Allen Burkhart Evans and Anna Delaplaine Evans. Brad has three children, Taylor Wynne Evans, Shelby Mann Evans and Grace Kathleen Evans. Sharon is also survived by a sister Kaye Crawley and several nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by the hundreds and hundreds of fifth- and sixth-grade children with whom, as their teacher, she shared her knowledge, her love and her values.

Sharon graduated from Tech High School in Indianapolis and Indiana Central College (now the University of Indianapolis). She obtained her master's degree in education.

After teaching in Indianapolis for two years she moved to the Greencastle area to teach at Belle Union Elementary School in 1972. When Central Elementary School was constructed she taught there until 2012. Her students were always her highest priority after her family.

Sharon was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma educational sorority and Delta Theta Tau philanthropic sorority. She served many years as a member of the Warren Township Advisory Board and was active in Republican politics.

She was proud of her 16 years of service as a trustee of the Putnam County Library during the tumultuous years leading up to the completion of the new addition to the library. Always interested in the Putnam County Foundation, Sharon served many years on the Lilly Scholarship Selection Committee.

She enjoyed her time spent with family and friends at the Evans Family cottage on Elk Lake, Mich.

A Celebration of Sharon's Life will be held on Saturday, May 19 at 2 p.m. at Central Elementary School, 1888 E. U.S. Highway 40, Greencastle.

The family asks that any memorial gifts be given to the Sharon C. Evans Fund in the Putnam County Community Foundation.
