NPMS places second at county meet

CLAYTON -- The North Putnam Middle School track teams place second at the county meet held last Thursday.

For the boys, Brad Hodges won the 110-meter hurdles, while Nick Bishop won the high jump. The team of Anthony Austin, Anthony Cooke, E.J. Westgate and Bishop won the 400-meter relay and broke a school record in the process. Their time of 48.7 edged the old mark of 48.9.

Bishop also placed second in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, while the 1,600-meter relay team placed second as well.

DevonDre Burrell (110 H), Cooke (100), Austin (200) and Blake Everts (400) all placed third on the day. Everts was fourth in the long jump, with Westgate placing fifth. Trent Mason posted fifth place finishes both the 110-meter hurdles and the 800-meter run.

In the girls' meet, Ashlyn Cooke was first in the 100-meter hurdles and Adria Millican was first in the shot put. Placing second for the Cougars was Alleah Duncan in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, Allanah Nunez in the 1,600-meter run and the 400-meter relay team.

Hannah Gray was third in the 100-meter dash, with Nunez placing third in the 800-meter run. Millican was fourth in the discus, as was Madi Powell in the shot put. Emily O'Neal was fourth in the 200-meter dash, while Torie Lowe placed fifth in the long jump.
