Sarah Beams wins Chamber's Senior Student Athlete Award

Greencastle senior Sarah Beams was recently named the Greencastle Chamber of Commerce Senior Female Student Athlete award winner at Greencastle's Honors and Awards program on May 18.

Beams was honored with a $250 scholarship from Teachers Credit Union. She was presented her award by Greencastle Chamber of Commerce member Amber Bowers and Nicole Watson from Teacher's Credit Union.

Beams ranks first in her senior class with a 4.0 GPA and has numerous extracurricular activities she's been involved with. She's earned Academic All-State and Academic All-Conference status for soccer her senior season. During her four years at GHS she's earned Academic All-Conference status in swimming and track in addition to soccer.

Academically, Beams was a member of Key Club, National Honors Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council, as well as being a Lilly Endowment Scholarship semi-finalist. She received Academic Cumulative Honors all four years and the Golden B Award for maintaining straight A's through seven semesters in high school.

"(An) outstanding young lady with a promising future," GHS Athletic Director Russ Helser said. "Her athletic ability and leadership skills are a direct reflection of her character as a person."
