PCF celebrates IDOC Employee Recognition Week

Putnamville Correctional Facility recently celebrated the accomplishments of its staff. During the celebration staff members participated in various activies such as Troy Ketih in the dunk tank competition.

PUTNAMVILLE -- Putnamville Correctional Facility (PCF) Superintendent Stanley Knight acknowledged the accomplishments of staff at the facility in observance of the Indiana Department of Correction's Correctional Employees Week, May 14-18.

Celebrating Correctional Employees Week, staff at the PCF participated in various activities organized by the facility's Employee Recognition Committee (ERC).

Weeklong festivities included a fitness walk, cornhole tournaments, blood drive, ice cream social, softball game, dunk tank, eighth annual motorcycle run, picnic luncheons and K-9 unit demonstrations.

On Thursday, staff gathered for an outdoor employee appreciation ceremony. The invocation was given by Chaplain Ernie Rush with opening remarks by Supt. Knight who extended his appreciation to staff for its hard work.

"I appreciate the dedication and commitment that you display each day," Knight told the staff.

He concluded by giving special thanks to ERC Committee members, Culinary Arts Instructor Penny Clevenger, Aramark Food Service department, K-9 Unit and all who participated in making the event a success.

During the ceremony Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Tim Phegley presented Perfect Attendance and Emergency Response Team certificates, and Quentin Storm, Internal Affairs officer, introduced representatives from the Putnam County Community Foundation, Marcus Whited and David Archer, who presented the annual PCF Memorial Scholarship to recipient Bettina West.

Assistant Superintendent of Re-Entry Beckie Bennett presented Indiana residents Beverly Weisner of Poland and Mike Mecila of Brazil with Employee of the Year awards.

Jennifer Alex of Coatesville, Kevin Gilley of Greencastle, Brian Chalfin of Spencer and David Mikles of Brazil were named Employees of the Quarter.

The ceremony concluded with Unit Manager Mike Rains announcing that 80 names would be drawn for a raffle and the winners would receive a $25 gift card from Kroger.

In attendance for the ceremony were IDOC central office staff members James Bassinger, Kevin Orme and Jerry Vance.
