People Helping People

Thursday, May 24, 2012
With the theme of "people helping people" for its 2012 annual meeting in mind, Mental Health America of Putnam County (MHAPC) chose its annual award winners. The "Person" of the Year award went to 13 Greencastle High School football players who traveled to southern Indiana this spring to help with tornado relief. Those honored were Nick Gilliam, Carter Lewis, Hunter Smith, Mac Shuee, Caleb Robinson, T.J. Bollman, Dustin Williams, Jordan Froderman, Tyler Scott, Tanner Wood, Evan Coble, Grant Mundy and Johnny Newgent.

This year's Educator of the Year went to Purdue Extension Educator Jackie Baumann for her long record of helping the youth and adults of Putnam County in areas as disparate as teen pregnancy, diabetes health and awareness and emergency preparedness. Baumann (left) was presented her award by MHAPC board member Lucy Wieland.
