Donate your bucks for the '4th of July Bang!'

Friday, June 1, 2012
Putnam County citizens can help contribute to the 4th of July fireworks show at Robe-Ann Park. Urging donations are Celebrate 4 Committee volunteer Lauren Smoot (left), director of sales at the Inn at DePauw, Lady Liberty wannabe Lacey Miller and Jan Firebaugh, president of the Greencastle Friends of the Park Association. Donation containers are located at Old National Bank, First National Bank, Teachers Credit Union and North Salem State Bank in Greencastle.

Celebrate 4, a committee of citizens working with the Greencastle Friends of the Park Association, is giving Putnam County citizens an earlier opportunity to contribute toward the cost of staging the annual Fourth of July celebration and fireworks show.

Cash, coins or checks are all welcome, and can be delivered to donation containers located at the following local banking institutions: First National Bank (Indianapolis Road), North Salem State Bank (Warren Drive), Old National Bank (North Indiana Street and Indianapolis Road) and Teachers Credit Union (Putnam Plaza).

Those banks are all prepared to accept citizen donations toward the 2012 Fourth of July celebration.

Thousands of citizens annually come to Robe-Ann Park on July 4, enjoying the activities, musicians, festival food and the fireworks show finale. The donation containers are to create awareness of their opportunity to take part in helping the Celebrate 4 Committee continue this July 4 community tradition.

There are also Red, White and Blue sponsorship opportunities, ranging from $1,000 to $500 to $250. Checks can be made out and mailed to: Celebrate 4, City Hall, P.O. Box 607, Greencastle IN 46135.

The Celebrate 4 Committee operates under the Greencastle Friends of the Park Association as a 501 C3 non-for-profit committee. It survives solely on monetary contributions, grants, booth fees and in-kind donations to subsidize the costs of conducting the annual community July 4 event.

Any citizen interesting in becoming a volunteer for the Celebrate 4 committee can contact Greencastle City Hall at 653-3100.
