Trail bike ride and guide at McCloud

Monday, June 4, 2012

There will be a free, guided bike ride down the Vandalia Trail at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 9.

McCloud Nature Park designed the program for ages 8 and up.

Registration is required, as are helmits.

The three-mile trail spans from Amo to Coatesville, making the round-trip ride six miles total.

It is a natural, unpaved surface so participants are cautioned to bring a bike that can stand up to the conditions.

The ride is expected to last two hours and will include information about the trail's ecological features along the way.

The trail is open daily from dawn to dusk and admission is always free.

To register or get more information, the park can be reached at (317) 718-6188.

The trail is maintained by Hendricks County Parks and Recreation in cooperation with the National Road Heritage Trail Association.
