John W. Moy Sr., 81, Quincy, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Bloomington Hospital.
He was born on Feb. 1, 1931 in Vigo County, and was the son of the late Richard and Lidia Mae (Mann) Moy.
He is survived by his sons, John W. Moy Jr. and wife Leah, Quincy, Gary W. Moy and wife Joy, Quincy, Brad R. Moy, Quincy, and Steve L. Moy and wife Lisa, Cary, N.C.; his loving companion, Frances Walker, Cloverdale, 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his stepsister, Pearl Fisher.
He retired from IBM Corp. at Greencastle as a press operator and was also a farmer.
He was a member of the Millgrove United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 132, F & AM, Cloverdale, past master of Owen Lodge 655, F & AM, Quincy, and Order of Eastern Star No. 369, Cloverdale.
He was a 1947 graduate of Staunton High School, served as town clerk of Seelyville from 1964 to 1966, and as Cloverdale Township trustee from 1978 to 1982.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 14 at the funeral home.
Masonic Memorial Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery.
