F. Jean Wood, 82, of Greencastle, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012.
Born Feb. 25, 1930 in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Ora and Maud (Smith) Lady.
She married Charles "Junior" Wood on April 4, 1946 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1998.
Jean had been a homemaker, loved spending time with her family, sharing in family activities, and was an avid baker. She was a licensed CNA in earlier years.
She was a member of the Church of the First Born, Bargersville, formerly in Greencastle; the VFW 1550; Eagles 4388; Moose Lodge 1592 Chapter 138; and the American Legion Post 58, all of Greencastle.
Her parents, husband, daughter Linda L. Patterson, son-in-law, Daniel C. Ruhlig, a grandson, four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Surviving are three children, Patricia A. "Patty" Ruhlig, Caron J. York and husband Jim and Charles J. "Chuck" Wood and wife Beth; a brother, Ora "Bud" Lady and wife Pat; a sister, Margaret Redmond; 16 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 28 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pat Pistelli officiating. There will be a Women of the Moose memorial walk through at 1:45 p.m. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until time of service.
