Putting on the Dog

Thursday, July 5, 2012

The dog days of summer aren't quite here yet -- although you would never know it by temperatures that hit 100 degrees again Wednesday in central Indiana. But that didn't keep the dogs from strutting their stuff in the annual Fourth of July Dog Costume and Fashion Show at Robe-Ann Park. The tandem of Cesor (the Cockapoo) and Toby (the Yorkie) stole the show, pulling and riding in a cart to win the Outfit/Dog and People category. Cesor is owned by Terry Covert, Reelsville, while Toby is owned by Beverly Smith, Reelsville. Among the other winners was Phoebe, the Dachshund-Beagle mix dressed as Uncle Sam and accompanied by owner Brandy Whitehead, Greencastle. Hot weather limited the competition to less than a dozen dogs.
