Charles O. Tomaw, 60, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2012.

He was born on July 8, 1952 in Paris, Ill., to Wayne Tomaw and Lois Claypool Tomaw.

Charlie was a graduate of Shiloh, Ill., High School and Lakeland Junior College, where he received an agriculture business degree.

He was a 25-year officer at the Putnamville Correctional Facility.

His parents preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Cheryl D. Hood Tomaw; three sons, Robert Tomaw, John Tomaw and wife Jennifer and Derek Tomaw, all of Greencastle; two brothers, Tom Tomaw and wife Phyllis of Barneveld, Wis., and Jim Tomaw and wife Lila of Winfield, Ala.; a sister, Sheree Blanton and husband Donnie of Reelsville; and three grandchildren, Logan Tomaw, Chloe Tomaw and Emalyn Tomaw.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Mark Boswell officiating. Interment will follow at Putnamville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
