Hallie Thyr

MARY MICHAEL, of Greencastle, has been named to the dean's list of the DePaul University for the 2012 spring quarter.

Michael is an Arabic studies major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

She is the daughter of Steve and Nancy Michael and a Greencastle High School graduate.

Wabash College junior CONOR FRAME, of Reelsville, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2012 semester.

Frame is one of 252 students at Wabash who maintained at 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

The South Putnam High School graduate is the son of Charles and Tina Frame.

Hartwick College first-year student JESSE ELKINS, of Greencastle, son of Heather and Jeff Elkins, has been named to the spring term Dean's List at Hartwick.

Inclusion on Hartwick's Dean List is an indication of excellent academic work, including the completion of a full course load with at least a 3.5 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale.

Elkins is majoring in psychology.

HALLIE THYR, SHELBY HUFFMAN and AMELIA SEWARD, piano students of Cheryl Beck, have qualified to participate in the final competition of the 2012 Indiana State Fair Young Hoosier State Piano Competition.

They will perform on Aug. 4 and 11 in the third floor auditorium of the Ellison Bakery Home and Family Arts Building.

These students were among over 300 students, ages 5-22, who competed in the regional competitions held in Carmel, West Lafayette, Terre Haute, Columbus and Fort Wayne. The competitors are grouped into several divisions by age and category.

Amelia Seward

Hallie, Shelby and Amelia are competing in three categories -- classical, non-classical, and jazz and blues. The competition is sponsored by Piano Solutions of Carmel.
