Dozens of sponsors and participants will welcome local families to Greencastle's sixth annual National Night Out event on Monday, Aug. 6 from 5-8 p.m. at Robe-Ann Park.

The 2012 Putnam County National Night Out program is set for Monday, Aug. 6 at Robe-Ann Park in Greencastle.

The 5-8 p.m. event is geared toward families with elementary or middle school-age children.

This year's event will promote health and wellness.

In addition to a number of other activities, the event will feature free refreshments and free swimming for families in attendance.

Registration will be at the park bandshell. Free wristbands will get registrants free food, free school supplies, entry to the pool, entry in the raffle and participation in activities.

Everyone is invited to come and see how agencies all across Putnam County support the health, safety and well-being of our youth.

Last year, more than 1,300 people attended the event.

Anyone with questions concerning the annual National Night Out event may contact Linda Merkel of the Putnam County Youth Development Commission at 653-9342.
