Sunday, July 29, 2012
Firefighters from Floyd Township and Danville responded to an overturned tractor late Sunday morning. The unidentified man trapped underneath the implement was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital.

The Floyd Township Fire Department responded to a report of entrapment at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. An area resident was found trapped under an overturned tractor.

The resident reportedly had been under the tractor since 8 p.m. Saturday and was later found by his son.

Chief Roger Wright, prior to arrival, called for the Danville Fire Department.

"It looked like he was going down into a ditch with a load of gravel," explained Wright. "The load of gravel seemed to shift, which caused the tractor to overturn."

Danville's heavy rescue was on scene for assistance using its high-pressure air bag system. Also on scene were Medic 3 of Operation Life and St. Vincent Stat Flight.

Extrication took approximately 30 minutes. The patient was transported by Stat Flight helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, with unknown injuries.

Floyd Township Fire Department declined to release the name or age of the injured resident.
