Two injured in early morning accident

CRAWFORDSVILLE -- Two teenagers were injured in a one-vehicle accident early Tuesday morning, which happened on U.S. 231 near Montgomery County Road 450 South.

Elizabeth Boswell of Greencastle and Nicole Allen of Brazil, both 19, left the roadway for an unknown reason, to later return as the vehicle began to flip.

"A 1994 Isuzu, left the roadway and came back upon to the roadway and flipped, ejecting both occupants," said a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department. "At this time we do not know who was operating the vehicle or what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. The crash is still under investigation."

Boswell and Allen were airlifted from St. Elizabeth Hospital, Crawfordsville to St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

"Both were thrown out of the vehicle on U.S. 231," said Elizabeth's father Daryl Boswell. "Both are in critical but stable condition. Elizabeth had an operation earlier this morning as well as her friend."

Assisting in the accident were the Montgomery Sheriff's Department, Crawfordsville Fire Department, S&W Rescue and the Crawfordsville Police Department.
