Annual Backroad Bike Tour scheduled as part of Airport Appreciation Days

Thursday, August 9, 2012

The 2012 Backroad Bike Tour, organized by Friends of the Parks of Putnam County and the People Pathways Project, is set for Saturday, Sept. 8 in conjunction with Airport Appreciation Days.

Participants may choose from one of three routes: 12-, 36- and 67-mile treks.

The 12-mile ride will provide casual riders with a moderate workout, the 36-mile route will contain challenging hills and valleys and the 67-mile ride is designed for serious cyclists.

A SAG wagon, which provides support and gear, will be traveling along the routes and a number of SAG stops will be available to provide refreshments and cold drinks.

All riders will have the opportunity to win gift cards to local restaurants and businesses.

Registration will be from 8-10 a.m. on Sept. 8 at the Putnam County Airport.

For more information and pre-registration visit peoplepathways.org/bbt, go the Covered Bridge Cyclery at 2 N. Jackson St. or call Joy Marley at 653-6178.

All funds will be used to help maintain and extend our community's growing network of multi-use trails.
