Freeda A. Spencer

Freeda A. Spencer, 72, Mt. Meridian, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012 at her residence.

She was born on May 5, 1940 in Richland, Va., and was the daughter of the late Edgar E. and Winifred F. (Whitt) Bryant.

She was married to Ken Spencer on Sept. 21, 1957, and he survives.

She is also survived by her children, Donna Nichols and husband Randy, Edgewater, Fla., and Carl Spencer and wife Cheryl, Greencastle; her sister, Rita Pierce and husband Ted, Mt. Meridian; her brothers, Kenneth A. Bryant and wife Phyllis, Bristol, Va., and Lonnie Bryant, Florida; her grandchildren, Jessica Saucerman and husband Justin, Katie Spencer and Marcella Eastham and husband Nick, and her great-grandson, Witten Eastham.

She was a member of the Deer Creek Primitive Baptist Church and a former member of Women of the Moose.

She had owned and operated Paper Magic in Greencastle. She had also been a foster mother for many years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the New Providence Cemetery, Greencastle.
