Robert Earl Trumbo

Robert Earl Trumbo, 86, Greencastle, passed away on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012 at Putnam County Hospital, Greencastle.

He was born on April 29, 1926 at Dunkirk, Ind., and was the son of the late Adrain L. and Susan (Swathwood) Trumbo.

He was married to Margaret (Roth) Trumbo on April 1, 1950, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 1982.

On April 16, 1983 he married Beverly Joan (Sutherlin) Trumbo, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 6, 2010.

He is survived by his son, Donnie Lee Trumbo and wife Debra, Greencastle, his stepdaughters, Debra Martin, Portales, N.M., Patti Cummings and husband Sam Frushour, Bloomington, and Kelly Shaw, Franklin; his sister, Gwendolyn Lee Burress, Dunkirk; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was a retired from Clay County Rural Telephone Cooperative, Cloverdale.

He was a member of VFW Post 6606, Clay City, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.

In addition to his wives and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, June Cooper, and his brother, William Trumbo, who was killed in action during the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.
