ParkFest to end with a bang

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Another year of ParkFest will be coming to a close Tuesday night at the Robe-Ann Park bandshell as it welcome's the DePauw University class of 2016.

Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Bryan K. Wallen will hit the stage starting at 6: 30 p.m.

Wallen has released 16 CD's and performed more than 500 shows across the Midwest, including appearances at Dollywood, the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Beale Street in Memphis, the Main Stage at Cincinnati Blues Fest and the Children's Museum of Indianapolis.

He was also named the 2011 Blues Artist of the Year by the Star Gennett Foundation, was the winner of the 2011 Cincy Blues Challenge, and he was also a finalist at the 2012 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. His 2011 release, "Every Mile," was named "Best Self-Produced CD" by the Cincinnati Blues Society.

Following Wallen's set War Radio will perform.

The band was first conceived as a creative side project for Joel and LaToshia Everson. It has now taken shape as a new bled of folk and rock.

The sound, while reminiscent of many familiar influences, is something quite new. This band displays elements of many musical styles but ultimately comes back to the heart and passion of searching for something more.
