County Jail

The following two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently:

* On Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 3:20 p.m. Eric Hunter, 23, no city listed, was booked in to the jail for failure to appear.

* On Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 12:45 a.m. Andrew Douglas O'Hair, 24, Greencastle, was arrested for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

City Police

Five recent traffic citations were issued by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 1:18 a.m. Monday, Grant Lutz, 29, Lafayette, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham on Bloomington Street for having an expired license plate (July 21).

-- At 7:20 p.m. Sunday, Clayton Moore, 22, Greencastle, was cited on Indianapolis Road by Capt. Charles Inman for excessive fumes/smoke from his vehicle's muffler.

-- At 11:40 p.m. Aug. 18, David Jorgenson, 21, Kansas City, Mo., was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham on Bloomington Street, south of Veterans Highway, for 55 mph in a 30-mph zone.

-- At 4:50 a.m. Aug. 18, Daniel Halfacre, 47, Rockville, was cited by Officer Matt Huffman at Percy Julian Drive and Avenue B for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

-- At 7:40 p.m. Aug. 17, Pamela Posthauer, 56, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Eastham at Percy Julian Drive and Avenue D for having an expired license plate (September 2010).

Sheriff's Department

On Thursday, Aug. 16 at 12:31 p.m. James S. Hansen, 18, Coatesville, was southbound on County Road 750 East approaching County Road 100 North in a 2000 Saturn SL2. As he tried to brake for the stop sign at the intersection, Hansen's foot got tangled between the gas and brake pedals.

Hansen's car went through the intersection, hitting the side of the 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 driven eastbound on CR 100 North by William F. Tomblin, 69, Coatesville.

After the collision, Hansen said he got nervous and did not know what to do. He decided to drive away from the accident and into Fillmore, where he called 911.

Sheriff's deputies had Hansen follow them back to the scene.

Damage was listed at $2,501-$5,000.
