City Police

Four recent traffic citations were issued by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 7:05 a.m. Wednesday, Chad Christian, 30, Monrovia, was cited by Officer Jeff Modlin on Indianapolis Road for having a false or fictitious registration.

-- At 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Matthew L. Dupin, 29, Brazil, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for 53 mph in 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street, south of Veterans Highway.

-- At 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Stephen Gaebes, 51, Greencastle, was cited on Indianapolis Road by Officer Eastham for an expired license plate (May).

-- At 12:24 a.m. Saturday, Michael T. Barancyk, 41, Crown Point, was ticketed by Officer Eastham for 51 mph in 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street, south of Veterans Highway.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has been dispatched several times recently.

* On Saturday, Sept. 1 crews went twice to 509 S. Locust St. to investigate a malfunctioning alarm. The runs spanned from 1:20-1:32 p.m. and from 1:47-2:14 p.m.

Crews then went twice to 412 S. Indiana St. for another malfunctioning alarm. The runs spanned from 6:05-6:13 p.m. and from 10:29-10:35 p.m.

* On Sunday, Sept. 2 crews went to 414 S. Indiana St. for an alarm set off from smoking at 7:25 p.m. They returned at 7:31 p.m.

At 7:26 p.m., they were called to Wildwood Bridge but disregarded at 7:35 p.m.

* On Monday, Sept. 3 at 12:35 a.m. fire workers went to 1000 Deer Meadow Lane for a malfunctioning alarm. They were in service at 1:06 a.m.

At 8:48 a.m., they were dispatched to 111 Spring St. for an elevator rescue. They returned to the station at 9:03 a.m.

At 11:02 a.m., crews went to 110 S. Indiana St. for another elevator rescue, returning at 11:17 a.m.

At 2 p.m., fire workers went to 37 W. Sunset Drive to guard downed power lines. They were in service at 2:36 p.m.

At 9:04 p.m. they were dispatched to 605 S. College Ave. for an alarm. They returned at 9:35 p.m.
