South Putnam boys' tennis gets first win

LINTON -- The South Putnam boys' tennis team traveled to Linton Thursday and came away with its first win of the season. The Eagles defeated the Miners 3-2.

In singles action, No. 3 singles player Colin Berry defeated Zach McGill 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

South Putnam was able to sweep the doubles matches to secure the win. The No. 1 doubles team of Trey Moore and Aaron Cole defeated Alex Wilson and Andrew Woods 6-0, 6-2, while Jake Carmichael and Zane Crosby defeated Dalton Van Patton and Rain Foster 6-2, 6-2.

The win is the first for the South Putnam program since the early 1980s head coach Allan Rains noted.

The Eagles will travel to Southmont today at 10 a.m.
