Bobby Joe "Woody" Wood, 79, of Crawfordsville passed away early Saturday morning at his home.

Born Aug. 14, 1933 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Elmer Cecil and Anna Lee Black Wood. He attended Crawfordsville High School.

He was employed at R.R. Donnelly's & Sons for 42 and a half years, working in the art department, then as a press journeyman and then a pressman at the Crawfordsville south plant.

He was past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Men's Auxiliary and had been a member of the Sons of the American Legion.

He enjoyed woodworking, drawing and painting, the outdoors and spending time with his family.

His wife, Alice Keller Wood survives. They were married in Sterling, Ind. on March 23, 1964.

Additional surviving family members include sons Jeffery Wood of Colorado, Mark (Sue) Wood of Zionsville and Christopher (Sondra) Wood of Crawfordsville; daughter Bobbi (Charlie) Boller of Bainbridge; sisters Betty Birch of Crawfordsville and Mary L. Surber of West Lafayette; grandchildren Joshua Wood, Daniel Wood, Cameron Boller, Sara Wood, Jessica Day, Tena Wood, Kelly Wood, Lacy (Dane) Lafata, Kelsey Wood, Amber (Travis) Holman Albright and Chryston Wood; and great-grandchildren Charis Lafata, Athena Lafata, Taelyn Albright, Payton McHargue, Devry Strong and Jaci Day.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters I.G. Wilhite and Lori Hartung and brothers Guy Wood and James Wood.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Burkhart Funeral Home, 300 S. Grant Ave., Crawfordsville. Casual dress attire is welcome. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery South, Crawfordsville.
