James R. Jones, 88, Carmel, passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012.

Mr. Jones was a veteran of World War II and proudly served our country, earning a Purple Heart. Before retiring in 1990, Mr. Jones owned Moore's Shoe Store in Greencastle. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing golf.

He is survived by his five daughters, Patricia Dennison of Carmel, Deborah Katterhenry of Fishers, Jacqueline Proctor (Dan) of Carmel, Margaret Knass (Jeff) of Indianapolis and Elizabeth Esra (Kent) of Zionsville; sister Mary Jane Howell of Glendale, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Douglas Izsak of Indianapolis, Amanda Banks of Columbia City, Grant and Mackenzie Knass of Indianapolis, and Bryan Katterhenry of Erie, Pa.; and two great-grandchildren, Lillian and Elizabeth Banks.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife Lois G. Jones, grandson Clinton Dennison, and son-in-law, Philip Katterhenry.

Services will be on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan-Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Dr., with calling from 4-6 p.m. Interment will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) or the Salvation Army (salvationarmyusa.org).
