Christy's INT touchdown return lifts Cougars to win

The North Putnam seventh grade football team defeated Terre Haute North 14-6 in dramatic fashion Monday.

With the game tied 6-all, Ethan Christy returned an interception 90-yards for the winning score with :50 left in the game. Hayden Rudes connected with Iolas Lewis for the two-point conversion.

On the ensuing Terre Haute North possession, Rudes collected an interception to secure the win.

Rudes and Christy hooked up in for the Cougars' first touchdown of the game. Defensively, North Putnam recorded four interception, two by Christy and one each by Rudes and Gage Bell.

Head coach Lonnie Lawhorn praised the effort of his team's offensive line and also singled out a few defensive players. He said Bell and Brandon Barker were defensive standouts, along with Jake Scott.

Scott returned an interception 65-yards for the Patriots' 10-yard line, setting up the Cougars' first score of the game.
