Cloverdale claims county title

The Cloverdale seventh grade football team defeated Greencastle Thursday to claim the Putnam County Championship.

CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale seventh grade football team defeated Greencastle 42-0 Thursday and in doing so became the Putnam County Champions.

Head coach Billy Boyette said the defense played a great game, collecting six turnovers. Ethan Radford returned a fumble for a touchdown and had 18 solo tackles.

Tyce Jackson added 10 tackles for the Clovers.

"Coach (Tim) Savini's defense was swarming al over the field making plays," Boyette said.

Offensively, Steven Allen had 98 yards and two touchdowns. Nick Winders rushed for 87 yards and score, while Tyler Kaett ran for 82 yards and a touchdown.

Cloverdale will travel to Owen Valley next Thursday.
