Putnam County Museum hosts events this October

The Putnam County Museum will play host to several events and gatherings this month.

An open house will be condiucted Tuesday, Oct. 16, beginning at 5 p.m., celebrating and spotlighting the Putnam County Photography Club (PCPC) exhibit "Putnam County Bringing It Home."

Members of the PCPC have their images of scenic views, wildlife animals and domestic pets, small wonders of nature and more on display along the Art Walk halls of the museum.

The open house will include light refreshments, and photographers will be sharing a brief presentation on their work beginning at 6 p.m.

The exhibit can also be viewed during regular museum hours.

An open house celebrating the Putnam County Airport and aviation history of the county will occur on Monday, Oct. 22, beginning at 6 p.m.

The people responsible for the research and drive behind the creation of the latest museum exhibit will be on hand to share their findings and enthusiasm for the rich history of the local airfield. Visitors can view the historical exhibit and hear from key participants who were instrumental in helping the airport grow into the current economic asset it has become for the local community.

Snacks and beverages will be provided during the museum's airport event.

Lastly, the Putnam County Museum has issued a call to all local artists. The museum is providing the opportunity and location for artists who are interested in meeting once a week on Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m., beginning Oct. 24 and running through Nov 28.

This six-week trial run gathering will be led by Barb Fuson and Saraellen Peters as a local artist networking and sharing time. Bring any art medium you enjoy working with and come meet other artists with whom you can share your skill and ideas.

There is no fee but space is limited, so call the museum (653-8419) if you are interested in joining.

The Putnam County Museum is open 1-4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is located at 1105 N. Jackson St. in Greencastle.
