The Putnam County Community Foundation has announced the winners of the 10th annual Share the Dream Contest.

The Murray and Sara Pride Scholarship Endowment earned the title for the most money donated, and the Greencastle High School Alumni Association Scholarship acquired the highest number of online gifts.

In a close contest, the Russellville Community Center Endowment came out ahead of the Be Great Today! Endowment and received the award of most new donors.

The winners recently came to the Partnership Center to celebrate.

"I am very proud we won the category of most new donors," Darrell Wiatt said. "This will help the Russellville Community Center forever."

Murray and Sara Pride and Steve McMains, president of the Greencastle Alumni Association, expressed their appreciation on behalf of the students whom their scholarship endowments would help in the future.

"We are just tickled," Sara Pride said.

Every year, the Community Foundation's Share the Dream Program gives charitable organizations and individuals another tool to help raise money for their endowments along with an opportunity to recognize special people in the Banner Graphic.

Three awards were given to endowments in 2012: $1,000 for most money raised; $500 for most online contributions via the Community Foundation's website; and $500 for most first time donors.

"This is the 10th successful year for Share the Dream," Elaine Peck, executive director of the Community Foundation, said, noting that 382 people participated this year.

Peck said the program was created by Lynn Bohmer, who was president of the Community Foundation at the time.

"She wanted people to know that the Community Foundation was available to everyone who wants to make a difference," Peck said.

The Putnam County Community Foundation is a nonprofit public charity established in 1985 to serve donors, award grants and provide leadership, enriching the quality of life and strengthening community in Putnam County. The Community Foundation administers more than 230 funds and endowments for donors supporting a variety of charities.
