Halloween Festival slated for Saturday at fairgrounds

The third annual Halloween Festival is scheduled for 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday Oct. 27 at the Putnam County Fairgrounds Community Building.

Starting at 11 a.m. visitors can enjoy a variety of games and activities, including a cupcake walk. Those who bring a used book for the book exchange will receive one in return.

The costume contest will begin at 12:30 p.m. with prizes for most original, cutest and funniest in the age groups 0-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.

There will also be a grand prize for overall best costume as well as a special family category in case any parents want to get in on the fun. Anyone wishing to participate in the costume contest should be registered by 12:15 p.m. the day of the event.

Each child will receive one free raffle ticket at the door for the children's raffle with additional tickets available for 25 cents each or five for $1. Drawing for the children's raffle will immediately follow the costume contest.

Tickets for main raffle, with prizes valued at up to $100, will be sold $1 each or six for $5, and the drawing for the main raffle will begin at 11:30 a.m. and continue throughout the event. You must be present to win for both raffles.

A lunch of hotdogs and pizza will be available starting at 11 a.m. for a small charge.

Admission to the event is a free will donation, either monetary, a clean, gently used children's coat or a non-perishable food item.

The festival is hosted by the Putnam County Extension Homemakers Community Service Committee. All proceeds will be divided between the Putnam County Coats for Kids program and the Putnam County Fairgrounds.

All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
