Duncan convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor
A 35-year-old Roachdale woman was found guilty in Putnam Circuit Court Wednesday of charges that she had sex with a then 15-year-old boy in August 2011.
Emily J. Duncan is facing between six and 20 years in prison following the conviction on two Class B felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.
Duncan was arrested on Oct. 5, 2011 for the Aug. 24, 2011 incident in which the victim said she performed oral sex on the teenager before consenting to intercourse.
According to the victim, Duncan approached him with a suggestive sexual message typed into her cell phone. She then reportedly told the boy she wanted to discuss something with him in her bedroom.
She then led him into the bedroom, at which time the incident occurred.
Authorities began investigating when a relative of Duncan, reportedly a friend of the victim, reported the accusations to North Putnam school officials.
During the investigation, Duncan initially denied the allegations, saying she called the victim into her room to discuss his marijuana use.
However, when told the history of her phone could be traced, Duncan admitted to typing the message, but said she would not have shown it to the victim.
Following Wednesday's half-day bench trial, Judge Matt Headley revoked Duncan's bond, and she was booked into the Putnam County Jail at 1:05 p.m.
She awaits sentencing on Wednesday, Nov. 21.
