FILLMORE-- Dixie Chopper employees recently made a $500 donation to Fillmore Elementary School from their "jean day" fund.

Employees who wear jeans on Fridays donate $2 to the fund each week. After a certain amount is collected, the Wellness Committee, composed of employees from various departments, determines where the money is donated.

After collecting $500 over the past few months, Fillmore Elementary was selected for the donation. Dixie Chopper corporate headquarters is located in Fillmore and the employees wanted to give back to the local community.

Principal Brad Hayes said this donation will be used for Fillmore elementary students who may need assistance with clothing, shoes, medical needs, school supplies, winter coats and other necessities.

"Fillmore Elementary is very grateful to Dixie Chopper for supporting the school and taking care of the children and families in this area," Hayes said.
