Halloween trick-or-treat hours set for Wednesday

Monday, October 29, 2012

The Halloween trick-or-treat schedule will kick off with the annual downtown Greencastle trick-or-treat event from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday on the courthouse square.

Local businesses and offices welcome costumed trick-or-treaters during that two-hour period. The downtown effort is sponsored by the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce this year.

Meanwhile, individual communities have established trick-or-treat hours. All community trick-or-treat hours limit activity to the night of the holiday itself on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Specific community trick-or-treat hours are:

-- Greencastle -- 4-8 p.m. (starting at 4 p.m. to coincide with the downtown event).

-- Fillmore -- 5-8 p.m.

-- Cloverdale -- 6-8 p.m.

-- Bainbridge -- 6-8 p.m.

-- Roachdale -- 7-9 p.m.

-- Russellville -- 6-8 p.m.

As is the custom locally, residents welcoming trick-or-treaters are urged to turn on a porch light during the appropriate period. Likewise, revelers are asked to skip homes without an outside light illuminated.

Meanwhile, those interested in an early start on Halloween are invited to visit Millpond Health Campus on Tuesday evening, Oct. 30.

Trick-or-treaters are welcome at the facility (located across from Greencastle Middle School) from 6-7 p.m.
