Realtors' bingo provides funds for local scholarships

Friday, November 9, 2012

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Putnam County Board of Realtors, I would like to thank everyone that came to our fourth annual Fall Bingo.

Once again this event was a great success, with $1,000 in prizes given away on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Putnam County Fairgrounds.

I would especially like to thank our sponsors for this year's event: Abstract and Title, American Realty LLC, At Home Realty LLC, Carpenter Realtors, Coldwell Banker Putnam Real Estate Center, Collins Evans Real Estate, Craftmakers 2 Gift Shop, Endeavor Communication, Family Video, Farm Credit Services of Mid America, First National Bank, Helmer Appraisal, North Salem State Bank, PNC Bank, Royal Title, F.C. Tucker Schneider Realty, Heather Taylor State Farm Insurance, Teachers Credit Union and Wood & Associates Real Estate.

These scholarship awards are made possible through our endowment with the Putnam County Community Foundation, and with the success of this event, we will be adding $1,000 to our Scholarship Fund, growing our endowment to provide for future scholarships. In the spring of 2013, the board will again be awarding $2,000 in scholarships to Putnam County high school seniors.

The Putnam County Board of Realtors hopes to continue this event twice a year, to provide a fun, smoke-free event to the public, while promoting giving back to the community. Our next bingo event will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 6 p.m. at the Putnam County Fairgrounds.

This event would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of James Knoebel, PCBR president and bingo chair, as well as those realtor members that came to work that night -- Cecil VanArsdale, Angie Long, Teresa Adams, George and Suzy Schneider, and our tremendous bingo callers -- Jeff Rich and Paul Nauman.

Thank you again for helping make these scholarships to Putnam County high school seniors possible.
