As part of Red Ribbon Week, Cloverdale police officer Charlie Hallam spoke to students on the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Pictured above is Mr. Fanning's fourth-grade class.

Cloverdale Elementary School recognized Red Ribbon Week Oct. 29 -- Nov. 2 in honor of Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, a police officer, who lost his life in the war against drugs.

Sgt. Charlie Hallam was invited to give a presentation to the fourth grade students about the dangers of drugs. The presentation included information about alcohol and other drugs and how they impair people who use them, how dangerous they are and the consequences of drug abuse that does not end in immediate death.

Drug education is very important for the prevention and war against drug abuse. Mr. Fanning, Mrs. Crum and Mrs. Hallam wanted their fourth-grade students to understand that their personal commitment to be drug free makes a difference in the community.
