City Police

Greencastle City Police were called to Robe-Ann Park at 8:15 a.m Thursday to investigate a vandalism complaint.

Sometime overnight late Wednesday or early Thursday, someone drove through the grassy areas between the softball diamond and the skatepark and near the tennis courts, leaving large ruts in the grass.

Officer Jeff Modlin also discovered damage to a light post outside the tennis courts.

The officer then went to Big Walnut Sports Park, where he discovered similar damage from a vehicle to the grassy area beside the softball diamond.

Park employees reseeded the damaged areas on Thursday. No damage estimate was available.

Three recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 3:57 a.m. Thursday, Abbie Bennett, 18, Bloomington, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for 51 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street, south of Martinsville Street.

-- At 11:30 p.m. Monday, Semi Harry Laquini, 28, Indianapolis, was cited on Indianapolis Road by Capt. Chris Jones for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

-- At 4:16 p.m. Monday, Frederick Buttery Jr., 38, Greencastle, was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense by Officer Darrel Bunten at Fifth Street and Avenue C.

County Jail

On Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 4:48 p.m. Lucretia Nmi Combs, 51, Reelsville, was booked into the Putnam County Jail for forgery of documents and check deception.

Sheriff's Department

* On Friday, Nov. 9 at 8:56 a.m. Jason A. Sampson, 16, Brazil, was northbound on County Road 550 East in a 2006 Dodge Charger when a deer ran into his path.

Sampson swerved to miss the deer and lost control of the vehicle. The car left the road and went through a shallow ditch, hitting a utility pole head on.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

* On Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 6:44 a.m. Jonathan R. McGaughey, 44, Greencastle, was traveling on U.S. 231 near County Road 1000 North in a 2006 Ford Mustang when he hit a deer.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.
