Rob Dixon Quartet to perform at Jazz at The Duck Thursday

DePauw Jazz at The Duck will present the Rob Dixon Quartet on Thursday, Nov. 29 from 8:30-10:30 p.m. at the Fluttering Duck in The Inn at DePauw.

Jazz at The Duck is free and open to the public

The group features Rob Dixon on sax, Sandy Williams on guitar, Frank Smith on bass and Colin Oakly on drums.

Dixon is a nationally recognized saxophonist and has worked with a wide variety of artists from the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra to Ali from "a tribe called quest."

A graduate Hampton University, Dixon continued studies at Indiana University in the Masters of Music program.

In subsequent years, Dixon has established himself as a professional musician, working with the Count Basie band, Rufus Reid, Composer Bill Lee (Spike Lee's father), Illinois Jacquet, Jonah Jones and Mike Clark's Indigo Blue as well as many others.

In addition to working fulltime as a musician, Dixon is one of the principle organizers and education director for Indy Jazz Fest.
