CLAYTON -- The North Putnam High School wrestling team finished a disappointing two-and-three at the Cascade 5-Way Dual on Saturday.

The Cougars topped Brebeuf (48-30) and Emmerich Manual (54-12).

Losses came to Pike, Cascade (60-24) and Monrovia (41-24).

"We lost a match that should have gone our way to Monrovia," NPHS wrestling coach Bucky Kramer said. "We still have a lot of things to learn, but we're young."

Jordan Sarr, 126 pounds, finished 3-0, sitting out the final two matches to rest and prevent injury.

Trevor Bingman, 160 pounds, Devan Attkisson, 145 pounds and Trae Straziscar, 106 pounds, all finished the day with winning records.

"Overall, from where we started at the beginning of the year, we've come a long way," Kramer said. "We surpassed our total dual meet wins from last year already."

Justin Scobee, 170 pounds, Caleb Wining, 136 pounds, Austin Buchanan, 220 pounds, and Josh Coulter, 120 pounds, were among them.

The Cougars season continues on Wednesday when they will host West Central Conference-rival Monrovia at 6 p.m.
