Community generosity aids clothing ministry

To the Editor:

Dear Friends, Family and Neighbors,

You have been so generous, investing time, energy and funds into our ministry so we thought we should let you know what your investment has enabled us to accomplish. The Lord has certainly blessed us with good friends and family, and we are very grateful to Him and to you.

The donations from the chili supper have already allowed us to set up more hanging and storage space for clothing, which was sorely needed. We also plan to use some of the funds to purchase undergarments to keep on hand. We would like to be able to have one or two packages of each size. Donations will also help us buy laundry supplies and an iron and help with accounting costs.

At some point in the future it is our hope to be able to offer non-food items to those in need as well; items that are not covered by government assistance such as shampoo, laundry supplies, soap and personal needs. But that is a future goal.

Right now we are working to sort clothing with the help of several of the Grow Groups from Bethel Baptist Church as well as volunteers from our community, who have generously offered their time and strength.

We are also focusing on getting the word out to those who need our ministry, by notifying government agencies such as Family Support Services and several of the school guidance offices. We are posting fliers in stores, post offices, restaurants and laundromats.

Several pocket-sized New Testaments from the Gideons were donated as well as some full-sized NIV Bibles. We would like to give out Christian materials for children as well. These will be purchased using donated funds.

So many have done so much! From supplying chili and crackers to bringing hangers and clothing, to volunteering their services to moving boxes and bags, to sorting the clothing donations to building hanging racks and sorting tables.

We ask for your continued prayers and thank you once more for your good kindness and generosity.

God Bless You,

The Son's Helping Hands
