After having a disaster of a wedding, Amy and Jason Woodall of Bainbridge recently entered and won a contest on "The Today Show", which has given them the chance to redo their honeymoon. Amy and Jason celebrate with their two sons, Braxton (middle, left) and Jason.

BAINBRIDGE -- A Bainbridge couple has won a redo on their wedding/honeymoon from "The Today Show." Amy and Jason Woodall recently won an all-expenses-paid trip to The Bahamas after entering the NBC morning show's contest.

The contest was about having a disaster of a wedding, and needing at least a redo of the honeymoon. There were 12 winners from across the nation and the Woodalls were one of the lucky winners.

"I saw the contest in passing and thought we have to be at least a finalist," Amy Woodall said. "Our friends saw the contest later and told me that we had to enter."

Amy Woodall was positive that they would be finalists after everything that happened at the wedding, which included a broken ankle, dead flowers and a flooded dance floor.

Those are just a few things that occurred at the Woodall wedding.

"We couldn't decorate for the wedding beforehand due to the expected thunderstorm," Amy recalled. "We also had no dance floor because of insurance purposes due to the rain."

Amy had a smile on her face as she went through a list of things that had happened before the ceremony. Things kept going downhill on the couple's happy day.

"I got a call a day before from the caterer's wife saying that he had had a mild heart attack, and not to worry the food would be there," Amy laughs a bit before continuing.

"It ended up being two hours late. And they just dropped it off, didn't serve it or even warm it up."

Amy and Jason Woodall look back on the day with laughter rather than with disdain.

Jason Woodall is an officer with Roachdale Police Department. He and Amy met years ago, and by their second date even their friends knew that they would be together.

After a broken ankle, a flooded dance floor, dead flowers and catering that was two hours late, the couple Jason and Amy Woodall look back at their wedding and see joy and happiness. However, thanks to "The Today Show" the couple will now be able to take a four day trip to The Bahamas.

"On our second date our friend said that we would be married by June 23rd," Amy recollected, "He died of cancer about two years later. We decided to have the wedding on the 23rd, we threw the wedding together in about three months."

Even though they had one thing go wrong after another, at the end of the day the Woodalls were still married ... or so they thought.

"The minister left before we had signed the marriage certificate," Amy said, shaking her head a bit after recalling everyone commenting about not worrying about the problems that had arisen because at least they had each other.

With everything that went wrong, they had one thing at least go right, the cake was still good.

Amy gives advice to couples that are getting married, "Even though the cake might no be good, things could be way worse."

Jason's reaction to everything from the wedding to winning the contest was: "It's about her," he says of Amy, "It's what she wants."

Even with the problems, complications and mishaps, the couple looks back at their wedding with fond memories and much joy.

Thanks to "The Today Show" wedding disasters contest, the Woodalls will be enjoying a four-day trip to The Bahamas, and might even renew their wedding vows while they are there.
