CRAWFORDSVILLE -- On Saturday the Greencastle wrestling team competed in the Athenian Invitational.
The Tiger Cubs finished eighth in the meet, sending just one person to the championship round.
Senior Carter Lewis was defeated by Crawfordsville sophomore Robert Manns in the final.
Though Lewis was the only member of the team who reached the championship round, Greencastle had other members place in the top six.
Sophomore Riley Cook placed fourth in the 106 weight class, sophomore Kaleb Flemming placed fifth in the 126 weight class, senior Nick Pingleton placed third in the 132 weight class, senior Riley Boswell placed fourth in the 145 weight class, sophomore James Brown placed fifth in the 152 weight class, junior Aaron Langdon placed fourth in the 160 weight class and senior Carter Lewis placed second in the 170 weight class.
Greencastle had several wrestlers miss the meet with illnesses and injuries, and did not have a good day due to having to forfeit four matches.
In the 170 pound final, Lewis and Manns went toe-to-toe in the match, leaving the first round with no points given.
In the second round, Lewis jumped ahead, gaining two points for an escape. Lewis maintained the lead until the third round when Manns gained a total of five points from an escape and a take down.
Carter escaped the take down giving him another point, but lost five to three when the clock ran out.
GHS will compete at the conference championship on Saturday at Cloverdale at 9 a.m.
