Battling dangerous elements like high winds and frigid temperatures of 17 degrees, Floyd Twp. Fire and Rescue officials were called out early Monday morning to a working house fire at 2916 N. CR 550 East. Called in by a passerby at 3:34 a.m., the fire had gone through the roof of the home upon arrival of the first units, Floyd Chief Roger A. Wright said. The house, which was being remodeled, was reportedly empty. A second alarm was called due to aid with water needs. Floyd Twp. firefighters were assisted by Greencastle, Fillmore, Madison Twp., Jefferson Twp., Clinton Twp. and Roachdale fire departments.
