County Jail

At 3 p.m. on Wednesday Kent Jermaine Jackson, 37, Greencastle, was booked into the Putnam County Jail for domestic battery.

City Police

Two recent traffic accidents were investigated by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 12:07 p.m. Tuesday, a two-vehicle accident was witnessed and reported by Capt. Mike Hanlon at Washington and Vine streets.

Nora Miller, 77, Greencastle, was attempting to pull across Washington Street from Vine in a 2001 Ford Ranger, Capt. Hanlon noted, when she reportedly pulled into the path of an eastbound 2003 Saturn, driven by Leslie James, 62, Greencastle.

Total damage in the accident was listed at $2,500-$5,000.

-- At 4:47 a.m. Monday, a two-vehicle accident was reported at State Road 240 and Warren Drive as Steve Brayton, 49, Indianapolis, mistook the intersection for a four-way stop and pulled his 2006 Dodge Caravan into the path of a westbound 2001 Mazda, driven by Peter Ballew, 62, Fillmore.

Impact of the collision sent the Mazda spinning into the northbound turn lane of 240, while the Caravan ended up going over the curb on the north side of the road and landing in a drainage ditch.

There were no injuries.

Total damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000 by investigating officers Nick Eastham and Sgt. Charles Inman.

Five recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, Kevin Titsworth, 56, Coatesville, was ticketed by Officer Kyle Lee for 56 mph in a 40-mph zone on Veterans Memorial Highway at the Buzzi Unicem entrance.

-- At 4:52 p.m. Monday, Roland Tincher, 77, Greencastle, was cited on South Indiana Street by Capt. Hanlon for operating a vehicle without financial responsibility after reportedly backing into a parked car.

-- At 3:30 a.m. Feb. 3, James Wheller, 19, Greencastle, was ticketed on North Jackson Street by Sgt. Inman for having an expired license plate (December 2012).

-- At 3:13 a.m. Feb. 3, Elton Runner Jr., 19, Louisville, was ticketed by Officer Eastham for 56 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.

-- At 6:20 a.m. Feb. 2, Charles Sebree, 64, Greencastle, was ticketed at East Washington and Vine streets by Officer Eastham for having an expired license plate (October 2012).

Sheriff's Department

At 12:57 p.m. on Saturday, Dawn M. Query, 43, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 100 North in a 2005 Saturn Vue.

As she entered a turn, her vehicle began to slide on snow and ice.

Query tried to correct but the vehicle continued to the left and went off the road, hitting a fence and tree.

Deputy Adam Hull said Query was uninjured in the crash.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

City Fire

At 8:09 p.m. Wednesday, the Greencastle Fire Department was dispatched to 355 Fawn View Lane. Firefighters discovered a short circuit in an overhead light. They returned to station at 8:29 p.m.

At 10:14 a.m. Thursday crews were called to an alarm at Res-care, 306 Bloomington St., but were disregarded before leaving station at 10:16 a.m.
