Cloverdale community responses needed for income survey

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department is attempting to qualify for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant and is currently seeking grant funding for the purchase of a new fire truck.

The CDBG Program is a federally funded grant program intended to benefit a majority of low-to-moderate income persons with various community development public assistance projects such as the purchasing of fire protection vehicles and improvements to wastewater, water, roads, bridges and debris removal.

To receive the federally funded grant dollars, a special income survey must be completed.

If you receive an income survey in the mail from the West Central Indiana Economic Development District, this means you have been randomly selected to participate in this important process. It is extremely vital that the survey be completed fully and returned in the self-addressed stamped envelope as soon as possible.

Plersons are urged to contact Kristy Jerrell, the town's grant administrator, 812-238-1561, with any questions regarding the improvements project or the income survey. Cooperation concerning this matter is greatly appreciated, Jerrell said.

The Town of Cloverdale will be the lead applicant on the project and the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department will be the sub-recipient.

Total project cost will be approximately $225,000 and the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department will supplying all local match required for the project.

Proposal is due March 22 and final application is due May 31 with grant awards set to be announced on Aug. 30.
