County Jail

A number of people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 5:35 a.m. on Friday Benjamin Travis O'Hair, 27, Greencastle, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

* At 5:25 a.m. Saturday Kendi Marion Thomas, 25, Greencastle, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

At 11:10 a.m. Mary Edna Cummings, 68, Fillmore, was lodged at the jail on a warrant for cruelty to animals.

* At 3:53 a.m. Sunday Christopher Lee Pate, 29, Oakwood, Ill., was held at the jail for operating while intoxicated.

At 4:17 a.m. Robert James Stamper, 27, Greencastle, was booked in for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

* At 12:40 p.m. Monday Brandon Behnkendorf, 32, Indianapolis, was arrested for driving with a suspended license and failure to appear.

City Police

A 33-year-old Hendricks County man is facing five preliminary charges following his arrest Saturday evening by Greencastle City Police.

Daniel Sanders, Brownsburg, was originally stopped by Officer Darrel Bunten for a reported traffic offense on U.S. 231 South near Putnam County Hospital.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Sanders is facing charges of battery causing serious bodily injury, battery via bodily fluids, criminal recklessness, intimidation and stalking.

Three other recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 3:13 p.m. Monday, Greg Coan, 54, Greencastle, was arrested at a South Indiana Street apartment on a Hancock County warrant for failure to appear in court on a theft charge.

Officer Jeff Modlin made the arrest. Coan was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

-- At 1:20 p.m. Feb. 9, Brandon Prosser, 18, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Kyle Lee on a warrant for conversion.

Arrested at Castlebury Apartments, Prosser was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

-- At 8:15 pm. Feb. 8, Katy Litchford, 29, Greencastle, was arrested for trespassing by Reserve Officer Jerett Query.

Arrested in the 800 block of Hillcrest Drive, Litchford was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Two recent accidents were investigated by GPD officers.

-- At 2:38 pm. Sunday, a hit-and-run accident was reported at Bloomington and Washington streets.

R. K. Anderson, 50, Martinsville, was stopped facing northbound at the stoplight when his silver Mercedes was struck from behind by a red pickup truck. The truck reportedly then went back southbound down Bloomington Street after the collision.

The truck was described as having aftermarket rims and a possible lift kit. It would have little or no damage after striking the rear driver's side bumper of the Anderson car, Officer Lee reported.

Capt. Mike Hanlon was unable to locate the red pickup immediately after the hit-and-run mishap.

No damage estimate was available.

-- At 12:13 p.m. Sunday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported on the parking lot of FB Distro (Ascena Group) at 1901 E. State Road 240.

A 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickup, driven by Dona Collins, 52, Spencer, was backing from a parking space as a 1997 Buick, driven by Rebecca Mundy, 42, Greencastle, was leaving an adjoining space and a collision occurred.

Total damage was estimated by Officer Bunten at $2,500-$5,000.

Sheriff's Department

At 2:32 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3 a sleepy driver collided with the rear of a semi trailer near the 37-mile marker of Interstate 70.

Susan A. Timmer, 51, McCordsville, was eastbound in a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country. Kumar Narinder, 32, Los Angeles, was also eastbound in a 2007 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer.

Timmer told Sgt. Craig Sibbitt she had fallen asleep and collided with Narinder's trailer.

Operation Life transported a passenger in the minivan, Jared M. Timmer of McCordsville, to Putnam County Hospital for a possible broken ankle.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded several recent dispatches.

* At 5:29 p.m. Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at Humbert Hall, 208 E. Olive St. Crews returned to station at 5:42 p.m.

* At 6:53 p.m. Sunday firefighters assisted on the scene of a motor vehicle accident at Bloomington Street and Veterans Highway, clearing the scene at 7:42 p.m.

* The department responded to two alarms at Sherwood Christian Church on Sunday evening.

At 8:31 p.m. crews responded to an alarm at the church at 600 Kirkwood Avenue, clearing the scene at 9:02 p.m.

They returned to the church at 11:39 p.m., returning to the station at 12:07 a.m.

* At 10:34 p.m. Sunday GFD investigated and alarm at Phi Gamma Delta, 916 S. College Ave. Personnel returned to station at 11:15 p.m.

* At 11:35 p.m. Sunday personnel performed a lift assist at 805 Crescent Dr., clearing the scene at 12:07 a.m.

* At 8:51 a.m. Monday, GFD performed a medical assist at 316 Medic Way. They returned to station at 9:29 a.m.

* At 10:12 a.m. Monday, firefighters assisted with a medical run to 1030 Avenue D, clearing the scene at 11:17 a.m.

* At 7:10 p.m. Monday, crews responded to a vehicle fire at 85 Ridgeland Rd. They returned to station at 7:26 p.m.
