Robert E. Lane

Robert E. Lane, age 65, of Ladoga, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013.

He was born on June 1, 1947 at Crawfordsville, the son of Ira Eugene "Gene" and Phronissa Irene Davis Lane.

He grew up in Montgomery County and graduated from Ladoga High School.

Following high school he married Diana Carol Johnson and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served from 1966 to 1972, including being stationed in Germany.

Diana preceded him in death 1977. He then married Eileen Hall and after their divorce, he married Pam Lestson and they divorced. He married Fanny Gilmore and she preceded him in death in January 2013.

Following his discharge from the service he worked as a truck driver for many years, and before his retirement he worked as an apprentice electrician for All Phase Electric in Crawfordsville.

Bob is survived by a son, John Robert Lane (companion Ashton Orcutt) of Destin, Fla.; and four daughters, Brenda (husband Jim) Crosby of Roachdale, Kristina (husband Charles) Nichols of Luther, Okla.; Bobbie Jo (husband Kurt) Napiwocki of Stevens Point, Wis., and Mary Lane (companion George Miller) of Glendale, Ariz.

He is also survived by three brothers, Dan Lane of Crawfordsville, and Greg and Bill Lane of Alabama, and a sister, Diane Curren of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two wives.

It was Bob's request to be cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 Bratton Rd., Waynetown, officiated by Rev. Kevin Howey.

The family will receive friends from noon until the services on Saturday.
