South Putnam FFA to celebrate 2013 National FFA Week

The South Putnam FFA Chapter will celebrate National FFA Week Feb. 18-22. This year's theme is "Grow," and it celebrates more than 80 years of FFA tradition while eagerly anticipating the organization's future.

More than 550,000 members nationwide will participate in National FFA Week activities at local, state and national levels.

These members come from rural, suburban and urban environments and are interested in the diversity of careers within agriculture.

FFA members are the innovators and leaders of tomorrow. Through agricultural education and hands-on learning, they are preparing for the more than 300 career opportunities in the food, fiber and natural resources industry.

National FFA Week is sponsored by Tractor Supply Co. as a special project of the National FFA Foundation and annually encompasses Feb. 22, George Washington's birthday.

South Putnam FFA Chapter members will celebrate National FFA Week by participating in the following activities: Monday -- student auction 5:30 p.m., Tuesday -- drive your tractor to school day, Wednesday -- community and teacher appreciation breakfast, Thursday -- activities for students at lunch and Friday -- a petting zoo for fourth-graders.

As a final support for our chapter during FFA week, the public is asked to would vote for the chapter by completing the following steps: Go to www.FFAchapterchallenge.com, register as an agriculturalist, complete the brief survey and submit the registration to vote for South Putnam FFA Chapter.

If South Putnam can get the most votes in the state of Indiana the chapter can receive up to $2,500.
