DePauw swim teams both finish NCAC in third place

CANTON, Ohio -- DePauw's 11th-ranked men's swimming and diving team totaled 987 points and finished third at the North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships.

DePauw head coach Adam Cohen was named the NCAC Coach of the Year after leading DePauw to a second-straight third-place finish.

Luke Hessburg finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:04.82), while Matt Kukurugya was ninth (2:05.29). Both were NCAA "B" times. Andrew Petersen was 11th in the event in 2:08.25.

Matt Gleason was fifth in the 200 butterfly (1:53.85) which made the "B" cut and Stephen McMurtry placed ninth in 1:56.51.

Casey Hooker notched a "B" cut time in the 100 free (45.61 finals/45.58 prelims) and placed sixth with Blake Lehmann placing seventh (46.07), Danny McGuniness 12th (46.65), Alex Grissom 15th (46.81) and Jack Bergeson 16th (46.82).

George Morrison was eighth in the 200 backstroke (1:57.35), while Chris Ercoli finished 14th (2:00.74). Jordan Bantista was 11th in the 1650 free (16:57.12).

The Tigers' 400 free relay of Bergeson, Hooker, Lehmann an McGuinness concluded the meet with a third-place finish in a "B" time of 3:02.98.

DePauw's women's team wrapped up competition at the NCAC championships with a third-place showing after totaling 904.5 points. Denison won the team title with 1,654 and Kenyon totaled 1,604.5 and Wooster was fourth with 792.

Caroline Bridges was third in the 100-yard freestyle in an NCAC "B" time of 51.67 seconds which also broke the school record she set in the prelims.

Allison Kirby placed fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.03), while Emily Weber was sixth in the 1,650 free (17:21.02) which was a "B" cut and school-record time as well.

Nicole Rossillo was eighth in the 100 free (53.06), while Erin Horne was 14th (53.48) and Annaleise Dehnke 16th (55.21).

Bre Jennings was 10th in the 200 breast (2:29.20) with Kat Devillebichot placing 15th (2:32.20). In the 200 back, Reese Edwards was 14th (2:10.11) and Emma Haynes 15th (2:10.78). Maddie Hochwalt finished 15th in the 200 butterfly (2:19.46) with Morgan Graves in 16th (2:19.65).

DePauw's 400 free relay of Bridges, Rossillo, Weber and Horne ended the meet in third in a school record and NCAC "B" time of 3:30.28.
