Sheriff's Department

* At 12:43 p.m. on Sunday, an unidentified vehicle making a U-turn reportedly caused an accident on Interstate 70.

Matthew S. Huckleby, 25, Terre Haute, was westbound near the 41-mile marker in a 2003 Infiniti G35. Huckleby told Sgt. Jon Chadd that the unidentified vehicle braked abruptly to make the U-turn, causing him to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

While trying to avoid the other vehicle, Huckleby lost control of his car, hitting a road sign as he slid across the median.

The car continued across the eastbound lanes, hitting a guardrail on the south side of the highway.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

Other officers assisting at the scene were Deputy Adam Hull and Col. Tom Helmer.

* At 6:21 a.m. on Monday, Linda J. Bond, 52, Cloverdale, was northbound on U.S. 231 approaching the traffic light at the onramp to eastbound Interstate 70 in a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

The light was green for Bond to proceed north through the intersection, but a 2008 Ford Expedition driven by Mary K. Waidlich, 64, Greencastle, attempted to turn in front of bond from southbound U.S. 231 onto the onramp.

Waidlich said she did not see Bond's vehicle, causing a collision. Sgt. Chadd cited Waidlich for operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license.

Bond was transported from the scene by Operation Life for a lower leg injury. Waidlich was treated at the scene for chest pain.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.
