REELSVILLE -- A one-vehicle Crash in Washington Township has seriously injured a former mayor of Terre Haute and killed her husband.

Judy Anderson, who served as mayor of Terre Haute from 2000-2004, was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital following the crash.

Her husband Brent, the car's driver, was killed in the crash.

An investigation is ongoing into the accident on U.S. 40 just west of the entrance to Apple Blossom subdivision, Capt. Danny Wallace of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department said.

The Andersons' Lincoln Town Car was westbound when it ran off the road for an unknown reason. The vehicle then crashed into a homemade trailer and a tree, Wallace said.

The Putnam County Coroner's Office is investigating the incident, with an autopsy to be performed for more information on a possible cause of the crash.
